!!! PcWorld !!! Manage Windows Vista Power Schemes Effectively & Efficiently

Most mobile users have Windows Vista on their portable Laptops and as such, it becomes imperative to them to make their battery stretch as far is possible. Fortunately, Vista Is Green; and has great power management schemes. A power plan or power scheme is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages how your computer uses power. Power plans can help you save energy, maximize system performance, or achieve a balance between the two. Windows Vista Power management scheme offers three plans: Balanced, Power Saver, and High Performance.

Balanced: Offers full performance when you need it and saves power during periods of inactivity.

Power Saver: Saves power by reducing system performance. This plan can help mobile PC users get the most from a single battery charge.

High Performance: Maximizes system performance and responsiveness. Mobile PC users might notice that their battery doesn't last as long when using this plan.

When you choose to use balanced power plan then you may face the performance problems because balanced mode gives your PC performance when you are doing intensive task and reduces when you are doing simple task.

Logically three different power schemes will affect your mobile device performance. HTC Shift and the Sony TZ notebook and discovered that on both devices the Balanced power setting provides better benchmark numbers than the High Performance setting.

You can manage your Power Options by clicking on More Power Options. On clicking it, you will be presented with the following window.

It is very easy to configure power options here.

You can also instantly configure additional power settings using the Windows Mobility Center.

Here are a few easy tips that can help you stretch your battery's power:

Choose a power plan that saves power. A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that control how your mobile PC manages power. These settings include power-saving measures, such as switching to a power-saving state when you aren't using your mobile PC.

Reduce display brightness. The display can use more power than any other computer hardware; even more than your hard disk and CPU. Although many mobile PCs are equipped with keys to adjust brightness and other display settings, the way you change the display brightness can differ depending on the mobile PC manufacturer. To learn more about how to dim your display, check the information that came with your mobile PC or go to the manufacturer's website.

Shorten the length of time before Windows turns off the display. When you're not using the mobile PC, even for brief periods of time; you can save power by having Windows turn off the display after a brief period of inactivity

500 grams - Small banana, mashed
500 grams - Jaggery, more or less as to taste
1 cup - Milk ( optional )
1/2 cup - Coconut bits /thenga kothu
10 to 12 - Cardamom, powdered
2 tbsp - Ghee
A pinch of salt
Oil to fry

Method

1 ) In the above picture is the ingredients for making unniyappam.

2 ) Melt jaggery with little water and make a thick syrup out of it. Strain to take out any impurities. Cool the syrup.
3 ) To a mixing bowl, add rice flour, mashed banana, cardamom powder, salt, coconut bits, ghee, jaggery syrup and mix well to form a thick batter, which is like a idli batter consistency. Let the batter sit for an hour. In the meantime if the batter has thicken up or is too tight, add milk to make it again to a idli batter consistency.

4 ) Heat a unniyappam pan, like the one above in the picture. Pour oil in each impressions like in picture. Let the oil heat up, then pour the batter into each impression.

5 ) On low medium heat fry the unniyappams uncovered, till the bottom turns golden in color.

6 ) With the help of a fork turn the unniyappam to cook on the other side to a golden color. Take out of the oil and drain on a paper towel.

Serve with tea.

For variation -
1 ) Use wheat flour instead of rice flour. It's equally tasty with wheat flour.
2 ) Dates and raisins can be used instead of banana for a different taste. Grind to a paste dates and raisins. Add jaggery as to taste.
3 ) Over ripe plantains can be used. Steam, mash plantain and use to make unniyappam.
